CLASSES
MMA
The whole sport in one — striking and grappling, standing up and on the ground, in the same session. Instead of training one piece, you learn how they connect: punch, clinch, take it down, finish. Most people get a bit of striking and a bit of grappling under them first, then bring it together here. No rush to start on day one.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (No-Gi)
Grappling — no strikes, all control and leverage. It's the one where good technique beats just being bigger and stronger, which is exactly why people get hooked. We run No-Gi, so you're training the way you fight: nothing to grab but each other. Beginners start with the basics, partnered up, no pressure.
Muay Thai
The art of eight limbs — fists, elbows, knees, shins. Proper striking and one of the best workouts going. You'll start on pads, bags and drills; sparring's optional and only comes once your defence is sorted. You won't get lit up on day one.
Boxing & Kickboxing
Hands and feet, footwork and timing. Sharp, fun, and the fastest way to feel like you can actually use what you're learning. Great on its own, and the backbone of everything else.
Wrestling
The takedown game — getting it there and keeping it there. Hard, honest, and it makes every other part of your game better. Be ready to sweat.
Strength & Conditioning
The engine room. Build the fitness, mobility and strength that holds up everything you do on the mat. You'll feel it in week two when you're not gassing halfway through a round.
All levels welcome in beginner-friendly sessions. Ages 8 and up.
Private training
Sometimes the fastest way to get good is one-on-one. Private sessions at Cortex give you a coach's full attention — no sharing the mat with thirty other people, just you and someone working on exactly what you need.
They're handy two ways. If you're brand new, a private or two before you jump into group classes takes the edge off — you'll walk into your first class already knowing the basics and where to stand.
And if you've been training a while, it's how you fix the specific things holding you back: a Muay Thai combination that won't click, a guard pass you keep getting stuck on, your striking for an upcoming fight.
You'll get a plan built around your goals and where you're actually at — not a generic one. Want to give it a go? Have a chat to your coach or get in touch.
