All instructors hold first aid certifications, ensuring readiness in emergencies. The gym is equipped with padded gear, headgear, and impact-absorbing mats, providing a secure environment for practice. Close supervision reinforces safe techniques, while thorough cleaning twice daily helps maintain hygiene. We prioritize injury prevention through proper warm-ups, cool-downs, and skill-building drills, ensuring a safe experience for all participants.
Overview of a Typical Class
Our MMA classes are structured to provide a comprehensive training experience while keeping it fun and engaging. Each class begins with an enjoyable warm-up that combines calisthenics, gymnastics, and skill-based games to get the kids energized and ready to learn.
After the warm-up, we move into guided shadow boxing to help improve technique and form. Next, we focus on striking and grappling drills that teach essential skills in a safe and supportive environment. The class concludes with controlled sparring or sparring-related games, allowing students to apply what they've learned in a practical setting.
Duration of Classes
Each class runs for 1 hour, providing ample time for skill development, practice, and teamwork.
Class Frequency
Our classes are held twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4:30 PM, with an additional session on Saturday mornings at 11:30 AM that focuses specifically on kickboxing

Our curriculum covers the fundamentals from boxing, Muay Thai, wrestling, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), and MMA, with a strong emphasis on age-appropriate techniques and self-defense applications. This diverse training ensures that students develop a well-rounded skill set while learning how to defend themselves effectively.
Your child will learn how to defend themselves against all punches and kicks as well as how to safely control an aggressive opponent with out having to injure them.

We prioritize discipline, respect, and safety in every class. The use of relevant protective gear is mandatory to ensure a safe training environment. Additionally, we maintain a zero-tolerance approach to bullying, fostering a supportive and bully-free environment both on and off the mats.

To help students track their growth and development, we implement a structured progress tracking system. This includes skill levels and advancement opportunities, allowing students to celebrate their achievements as they progress through the curriculum and master new techniques

Yasin Baroudi kids mma Coach
Yasin Baroudi brings a wealth of experience and expertise to Cortex MMA as our Kids MMA Coach. At just 19 years old, Yasin is a highly experienced competitor in BJJ, holding impressive titles: - 4x Pan Pacific Champion - 4x Australian national Champion - won the New South Wales State Championship over 10 times. - Over the space of his grappling career he has competed in over 200 matches. Yasin is an oceanic freestyle wrestling silver medalist. Yasin has participated in over 15 novice kickboxing bouts on the mats winning the majority of them with many wins coming via tko. Yasin has dedicated most of his life to martial arts, training in various disciplines and achieving remarkable success. As an amateur MMA fighter, Yasin holds a record of 1-0.Yasin’s extensive background in youth martial arts and Jiu-Jitsu programs has equipped him with a unique set of skills and hands-on knowledge. His friendly character, combined with his discipline, hard work, and dedication to continuous improvement, makes him a great role model for young athletes. Yasin is committed to providing a supportive and inclusive environment where children and youth can thrive and develop their skills in kickboxing and Jiu-Jitsu.
David Nguyen kids kickboxing coach
David Nguyen is an educated child psychologist and a Kukkiwon-recognized Black Belt in Taekwondo with over 15 years of martial arts experience. Trained in Wing Chun, Kali, Jiu Jitsu, Wrestling, and Kickboxing, David’s expertise is rooted in the traditional ITF Taekwondo style with a strong focus on practical self-defense. His deep understanding of child development allows him to create classes that are not only physically engaging but also promote mental and emotional growth. Through a blend of fun, discipline, and confidence-building, David ensures that each student thrives in a supportive environment.

How much does it cost?
kids memberships are only $37 a week.
What are the age limits for your program?
Our program is designed for children aged 7 to 14. Kids aged 5 and up can join our general classes.
Do participants need prior experience?
No prior experience is required! We welcome beginners and provide training tailored to all skill levels.
What gear do I need for my child?
Participants are required to wear appropriate protective gear, including gloves, shin guards, and a mouthguard. We can provide guidance on where to purchase or rent this equipment.
What can we expect during the trial week?
During the trial week, your child will be welcomed in to structured classes focusing on fundamental techniques, safety practices, and skill development in a fun, supportive environment making new friends from the start!
